People can’t seem to get over a hilarious viral video shared last year that shows unsuspecting folks choking on soft serve ice cream covered with matcha powder.

The 33-second video shows a compilation of people struggling after taking a bite of matcha ice cream from Nagamine Seicha, a store in Tokyo. A slightly longer version of the video, which was posted on YouTube in March 2021, briefly shows how the special matcha ice cream is prepared.
Many Twitter users found the reactions to the Nagamine Seicha ice cream hilarious, with some commending the man in a black sleeveless shirt for taking one big bite of the dessert like a champ.
“This guy ate half the ice cream. Everyone else had just a little bite,” one Twitter user commented in all caps, with another user in the reply thread calling the man in the video a “throat goat (Greatest of All Time).”

One Twitter user asked if matcha is an irritant that makes people cough, to which another user replied, “The matcha powder is so fine that it’s pretty much impossible not to inhale it, which leads to coughing. Just like cinnamon challenge.”

I don’t know who i like better, the guy who goes in for a second bite after coughing a pound of dust out, or the guy that took half the ice cream in one bite and barely reacted. I can see why you like this so much,” another user wrote.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.

Can NextShark keep a timeline thread here as updates come in? That would help keep context in one place.
