One daughter in Vietnam helped her dad score major points with his crush in the most adorable and unexpected way, melting thousands of hearts online in the process.

It all began when Angeline Tu Tran, 18, who was raised in California but born in Vietnam, decided to travel back to her home country to visit her retired dad after graduating from high school.

I spontaneously decided to take a gap year because I wanted to see some of the world before I saw another Scantron, she told HuffPost. “And it just so happened that my dad was in a place I’ve always wanted to get to know better.

The two have been trekking around Vietnam together by moped for the past five months.

On May 11, the father-daughter duo were hiking through the mountains near the city of Da Lat when Tran noticed her dad writing something in the sand.

During our hike, my dad kept stopping abruptly to pick some leaves, and when I questioned him he said it was because they looked like hearts,” the teen said. “I quickly brushed it off. Then when we got back to our site, he got to work.

It turns out her father was drawing the name “Huyen” in the sand and decorated it with the leaves he found.

His phone had run out of juice, so he asked his daughter to take a snapshot of him.

When asked who the mysterious Huyen was, “He said something along the lines of, ‘Just this lady I’m interested in.’”

He and Huyen had apparently been going out for about a year, and while they were both interested in each other, nothing ever came of it.

After telling his daughter the story, Tran’s dad decided to change the subject.

And so did I because as close as we are, I’m still a teenage girl who’s not really eager to hear the details of my father’s dating life,” she explained.

But when her dad asked her to send him the photos later on, Tran also took to Twitter to share them with her close friends who she thought would enjoy it.

The sweet photos eventually broke the internet, racking up more than 6,000 retweets and over 34,000 likes since it was first posted on Twitter.

    Users couldn’t handle the cuteness:

Tran told HuffPost that Huyen was so happy about the photos that she told her dad that he “should save a date for the two of them to get together” one he returned to town.

    Score!
