A video of a young boy who caught the attention of tennis superstar Emma Raducanu with a marriage proposal during a match last November has recently resurfaced and gone viral.
The 19-year-old athlete, who won the women’s singles tennis title at the 2021 U.S. Open, was playing at an exhibition match at the Royal Albert Hall in London when she heard someone from the stands shout, “Emma, will you marry me?”
The question came from 7-year-old Leo Gomez-Franqueira, a young tennis fan and child prodigy from London.
Raducanu briefly stopped her serve and flashed a smile in the direction of the boy. The adorable moment, captured in a now-viral video, delighted the crowd, who can be heard sharing a laugh at the proposal.
While the video was posted on the boy’s Instagram profile back in November last year, it recently gained traction after it was reshared by social media users across various online platforms.
Gomez-Franqueira has made headlines in the past for purportedly having an IQ higher than that of Albert Einstein. He completed a standardized intelligence test at the age of 2 and scored in the top 2% of the general population, making him the youngest member of Mensa, the largest high-IQ society in the world. The boy, who speaks five languages, passed his HSK Level 3 Chinese Proficiency Test with a perfect score of 300 when he was just 6 years old.
