Video Captures Terrifying Moment Van Speeds Through Tokyo’s Most Crowded Intersection
By Carl Samson
A black van in Tokyo ran a red light and sped through a busy intersection in a police chase, disrupting the order of law-abiding pedestrians.
The incident took place on Sept. 25 at Shibuya’s Scramble Intersection, a landmark in the Japanese capital where subway lines converge and many establishments can be found.
Surveillance footage of the incident at 9:55 p.m. shows the van driving through the intersection packed with pedestrians, while a police car chased behind it.
Alarmingly, the van ran through the intersection for a second time, just a few moments later when pedestrians started crossing again.
This time, a male pedestrian in a green shirt can be seen kicking the van before getting himself spun around.
It is believed that the man gave the swift kick to get back at the driver, but he was absolutely no match for the speeding vehicle.

The chase reportedly started when the van’s driver fled while being questioned during a traffic stop, according to NTV News 24.
Deeming it dangerous, police officers stopped pursuing the driver after the latter crossed the intersection for the second time. As a result, a search is underway.
