Video Captures Semi-Truck Tearing Through 3 Houses in China, Killing 5

An out-of-control semi-trailer truck sped through an intersection and crashed into a row of houses in China’s northwest Haiyuan county, killing five people and causing three homes to collapse.

The shocking moment was caught on CCTV video on Tuesday in Northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

In the footage below, the truck can be seen narrowly missing one lucky pedestrian before it speeds into the three houses. The driver died on impact, and four other people died later on.

Police are still investigating further but it is believed that the incident was caused by defective brakes.

According to RT, a video of the aftermath of the crash shows emergency workers going through the rubble as bystanders looked on in horror. A victim can be seen carried away in a stretcher.

Officials have ruled out the possibility of the driver being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The Daily Mail reported that the local public security bureau has revealed plans to enforce more road safety checks and search for accident black spots in the area after the incident.

The installation of warning signs and road markers to remind drivers to slow down is also in the works.
