An angry guest rammed his vehicle through a hotel lobby in central Shanghai following a dispute with staff regarding his missing laptop.

The disgruntled 28-year-old man, identified only as Chen, smashed through the glass doors of the hotel’s entrance in Lujiazui and recklessly drove around its lobby on Tuesday morning.

The incident was captured in several videos that were shared on social media.

In the footage, the driver in the white sports car can be seen crashing into the hotel’s entrance, backing up and ramming through the lobby. The vehicle then attempts to drive out the same entrance but fails, crashing into the doors.

Hotel staff and spectators are then seen banging on the vehicle and screaming at Chen to exit the car.

“Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” the staff can be heard yelling in the video. “Are you crazy? Are you?”

According to local police, Chen got into an altercation with staff over his laptop, which went missing during his stay at the hotel.

The hotel staff said the laptop had been stolen and was later found outside the hotel.

No one was injured in the incident.

Chen was detained by the police, who are currently conducting further investigation.
