The suspect of the April 15 Vancouver bus assault has died from a drug overdose, according to police.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Const. Mike Yake of the Metro Vancouver Transit Police posted on Twitter calling for the search and arrest of an unidentified man who brutally attacked a woman who defended two Asian women from verbal abuse.
The tweet read, #MVTPMediaRelease Metro Vancouver Transit Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly attacked a woman, pulling her hair and punching her multiple times while on a bus. Please call or text at 604-516-7419 or 87.77.77″. It appears to have been deleted as of this writing.
In a statement from the Metro Vancouver Transit Police Facebook page, the search has ended. Thanks to the help of the general public, the suspect was identified as “a 48-year-old Vancouver resident, of no fixed address,” who already had a history with the authorities.
“The investigation determined that the suspect passed away from an apparent drug overdose approximately one week after this incident,” meaning he passed by the end of April.
