Universal Studios Japan released a teaser on Tuesday that offers a glimpse into what fans can expect in a new section of Super Nintendo World dedicated to Donkey Kong called Donkey Kong Country.
What to expect: Scheduled to open in Spring 2024, Donkey Kong Country, as seen in the animated teaser, is adjacent to the main area, allowing parkgoers a seamless travel. The jungle-themed section features a ride called “Mine Cart Madness,” reportedly named after a level in the 1994 SNES game likewise called “Donkey Kong Country.”
The ride will reportedly be interactive, requiring visitors to protect bananas from chasing enemies. Donkey Kong versions will be added to the current line of Power-Up Bands used to interact within Super Nintendo World.
The teaser also catches Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy, a store from the “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze” game. It will likely be the area’s souvenir shop.

Expanding the area: Nintendo announced in a 2021 press release that Donkey Kong Country will expand the total size of Super Nintendo World by around 70%. As seen in the teaser, the upcoming section teems with lush greenery.
Reactions: Nintendo fans expressed excitement about the latest news. One wrote on X that it would be perfect if King K. Rool and the Kremlings also come in the new section.
