For anyone looking to make some extra money on the side, driving for Uber or Lyft may eventually cross your mind. We’ve heard stories of Uber drivers making $250,000 while on the job, but just how much does the average driver actually make?

Drivers can earn close to $30 per ride in New York City, but only just over $10 a ride in cities like Nashville, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

According to Business Insider, the most recent reports from Uber reveal that drivers earn an hourly wage of $30. SherpaShare didn’t provide the average number of rides per hour that drivers give, but average fair prices in New York City for both Uber and Lyft fall around $29.
