A pair of 17-year-old twins from Long Island, New York, has been named top students of their graduating class this year.
What they achieved: Devon and Dylan Lee are Herricks High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the Class of 2024. Their recognition was first announced in November.
About the twins: Devon and Dylan are well-rounded students, excelling both in academics and extracurricular activities. Both aced some of their school’s most challenging courses, including Multivariable Calculus, Physics C/ME and Spanish 5 AP through the Language Immersion Program. They also excel in volleyball, music and marathons and are involved in leadership/mentoring, as per The Island 360.
About their family: Herricks High School named the twins valedictorian and salutatorian through its public announcement system. They were called to the main office, where their family surprised and congratulated them for their accomplishments.
“Our parents greatly value education,” Dylan told WABC. “All they asked for was for us to try our best.”
Their sister, Jeylin, who is currently studying astrophysics at the California Institute of Technology, was also Herricks’ valedictorian for its Class of 2023.
What’s next: The twins will embark on separate paths after graduation. Devon will attend Cornell University to study computer science, while Dylan will head to Yale University for biomedical engineering.
