K-pop girl group Twice performed for the first time their English-language single “The Feels” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“I got the feels for you”: The nine-member girl group, created and represented by JYP Entertainment, simultaneously released their first official single completely in English and a music video on Oct. 1, which has over 15 million views, as of this writing.
  • Twice was formed through a reality competition show in South Korea called “Sixteen” that saw competitors fighting to move on and become a part of a new musical group.
  • The group was originally going to be seven members but was increased to nine members to include members Tzuyu, who was the audience’s pick, and Momo, who was picked by the founder of JYP Entertainment Park Jin-young, also known as JYP.
  • The group made a Japanese-language album in 2017, after which fans speculated on when Twice might make their English-language debut, though they have released English versions of their songs before.
  • It was announced in June that they would be releasing their first fully English-language single sometime in the fall and that an English-language album would come after.
  • In the U.S., “The Feels” is currently No. 1 in the pop genre on iTunes.
Performance: Twice performed “The Feels” for the first time on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show.
  • The group closed out the show with their performance, marking the first time that Twice has performed on “The Tonight Show.”
  • Only eight out of the nine members were in attendance due to singer Jeongyeon’s hiatus from activities because of her health, according to NME
  • The YouTube video of the performance premiered with around 30,000 likes and over 30,000 views.
  • They will also be performing on the GMA3 show Oct. 6.
Reactions: Fans, who refer to themselves as “Once,” are ecstatic about the new English debut single.
