Tomi Lahren, an American conservative political commentator and supporter of Donald Trump, unknowingly called the president a “jackass” when she said he is “wise as an owl” in Hindi.
The 28-year-old Fox News pundit went viral after she thanked the Indian community for supporting Trump in a personalized video via Cameo paid by comedy writer and media contributor, Ali-Asghar Abedi, according to Huffington Post.
“Trump 2020 is all about keeping America great, because president Trump is wise like an owl, or as you guys would say in Hindi ― which I hope I’m pronouncing this right ― President Trump is wise like an ullu,” she said.
Although “Ullu” or “Ulloo” does mean owl in Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, speakers of the language use the word to informally call someone a “jackass” or a “fool,” the comedy writer explained in his The Independent piece.
Abedi tried to speculate how Lahren could fall for such a trick.
“Ultimately, Lahren got $85 (minus whatever commission Cameo takes) and India got to laugh as her clip ended up appearing across the country’s news networks,” he said.
Many social media users laughed at Lahren’s use of the term “ullu” when she described Trump, The Indian Express reported.
