An Indonesian man went viral this month for upgrading his mother’s business class seat to a Singapore Airlines Suites cabin.
On Jan. 5, TikTok user Adriel (@adrieltjokro) posted a 39-second video showing his mother reacting to the special upgrade
“When you surprised your mom with an upgrade to the Suite Class for a 12½-hour flight on Singapore Airlines’ amazing A380,” Adriel wrote in the caption of his TikTok post, which has received over 3.7 million views and 411,000 likes.
The TikTok user posted a longer video on Jan. 11 explaining what happened before their flight from London to Singapore.
The minute-and-a-half-long video, which has already garnered over 83,000 views, starts with Adriel sharing that he managed to snag a Suites cabin upgrade, which he decided to give to his mother.
“While she wasn’t looking, I swapped her seat with mine so that she can enjoy the Suite Class for her return flight,” his clip’s onscreen text says.

The rest of the video shows his mother’s reaction to the sweet gesture. At first, she seems confused when asked to go up a flight of stairs inside their airplane. She then starts smiling and laughing with joy once she realizes that she will get to fly in a Suites cabin.
“Wait, what? How come?” she can be heard asking her son, who ended up taking her business class seat.
The TikTok user seemingly managed to snag the upgrade by redeeming points with Singapore Airlines.
“After years of travel hacking, this is probably going to be the pinnacle of my efforts. It’s going to be so hard to top this!” his longer video’s onscreen text says. “If you have enough KrisFlyer miles, I highly encourage you to redeem your miles for this amazing cabin.”
In response to a question in the comment section about what he used, Adriel wrote, ”A combination of Citi Premiermiles, UOB PRVI Miles, DBS Black, BCA KrisFlyer.”
According to the Singapore Airlines website, each individual Suites cabin features “its own sliding door and window blinds,” “a standalone bed, completely separate from your seat,” “a chaise lounge and large table [that] transform the space in your cabin into a discussion or dining area” and high-quality “meals [that] are served on bone china by Wedgwood and specially designed for Singapore Airlines.”
Several TikTok users commented on both of Adriel’s videos to show their support.
“I’ve been saying that I really want to do this for my mom too eventually. I love this,” one user wrote.
“What a sweet son you are! And what an experience for your Momma,” another user commented.
“Your mom deserved it for raising the best son. She did a good job,” another wrote.
