Netflix’s new political thriller “The Night Agent,” which premiered on March 23, has already been renewed for a second season.
Based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, the series stars New Zealand-Tongan actor Luciane Buchanan as cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin, Gabriel Basso as FBI agent Peter Sutherland and Oscar nominee Hong Chau as White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr.
“While monitoring an emergency line, a vigilant FBI agent [played by Basso] answers a call that plunges him into a deadly conspiracy involving a mole at the White House,” the show’s Netflix description states.
Since its premiere last week, “The Night Agent” has achieved a top 10 finish in 93 countries and raked in 168.7 million hours of viewership in less than a week.
Due to the show’s quick success, Netflix announced its 10-episode Season 2 renewal just one day after its premiere.
This marks one of the quickest renewals in Netflix history.
Creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan shared his excitement for Season 2 in a recent statement.
