A senior at Crossland High School, Kamille told WJLA that she was able to follow in her sisters’ footsteps by working hard for the title.
“I just couldn’t believe I actually had the award in my hand,” she was quoted saying. “I cried a lot because I have been dreaming about this moment. The pressure was on me.”

The award, which Katrina and Kaelyn received in 2014 and 2018, respectively, is the most esteemed “academic title in Prince George’s County Public Schools.”
“It’s our work ethics and my parents pushing us, then my sister Katrina setting the bar,” Kamille added.

Interestingly, all three sisters will soon be attending Morgan State University in the same timeframe.
Kamille will be majoring in Nursing as an incoming freshman; Katrina had earlier transferred to the same school from the University of Maryland; Katelyn transferred from Post University.
Next in line to carry the tradition in the Canlas family is their younger brother who will be rising high school freshman. According to Kamille, the sisters are all hoping their little brother will earn the valedictorian title one day.
