Racist Woman Caught on Video Harassing Asian Couple Exposed As Golden West College Professor
By Ryan General
It did not take long for netizens to identify the woman who got caught on video harassing an Asian American family with racist comments in Long Beach on Friday.
In the clip that has since gone viral, the woman was heard saying “you need to go back to your country” to Facebook user Tony Kao and his family.
When Kao confronted the woman, she continued to berate them, saying “it’s not safe because there are too many people like you here…invading” and “you’re making my culture extinct.”
Several Facebook users identified the woman as 58-year-old Tarin Frances Olson, a therapist, author, and professor in the Counseling Department at Golden West College, Huntington Beach, California.
But while the school indicated that one of its faculty members did make questionable comments via a Facebook post, it did not reference her by name.
“It has recently come to our attention that there was a video posted on Facebook of a GWC faculty member making comments that the College does not condone or support. Golden West College believes in an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students,” the post read.
Netizens who soon flooded the comments section have found the post somewhat lacking:
Others were there to call for her dismissal from the school:
Some people have even accused the college of deleting comments.
As of now, Olson’s Linkedin account is also inactive.
Meanwhile, Kao has updated his Facebook post, urging people who were agitated by the incident to be civil. He noted that “the message we want to convey is POSITIVE and that is to be respectful to one another no matter of what race, creed, or color.”
