Members of the Facebook group Subtle Asian Traits had their minds blown after finding out that the Japanese voice actor behind Howl Jenkins Pendragon in Hayao Miyazaki’s “Howl’s Moving Castle” is actually more beautiful than the character.

A group member shared a TikTok video made by user Olivia Lee (@todorokisama69) showing a slideshow of Howl and his Japanese voice actor, Takuya Kimura.
In the pictures used by Lee in her post, Kimura, who is now 48 years old, looks like he came straight out of the Studio Ghibli movie. However, it’s important to note that the pictures she showed are old – definitely older than “Howl’s Moving Castle,” which premiered in 2004.

For the uninitiated, Kimura started his career as a member of the J-pop boy band SMAP (Sport, Music, Assemble, People), which was founded in 1988 when all members were still in their teens. The group eventually broke up in December 2016 when all members, except for Kimura, announced their departure from their agency Johnny & Associates, Mainichi reported at the time.
Kimura went on to appear in several movies, TV shows and an audio drama for the manga “Boys Over Flower” (“Hana Yori Dango”) and remains an iconic superstar throughout east Asia.
You are welcome.
