New York City police are looking for a man accused of shoving an Asian woman while calling her a “stupid Asian b*tch” near Manhattan’s Herald Square.
The incident reportedly occurred near 6th Ave. and W. 33rd St. at around 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2022.
The suspect approached the victim from behind and shoved her to the ground “without any prior conversation or provocation,” police said. He then escaped in an unknown direction.
“Stupid Asian b*tch,” the man allegedly said during the attack. “Do you want another one?”
The victim, 56, sustained a minor injury to her arm, according to reports. She refused medical attention.
Police released surveillance images of the suspect on Tuesday. They described him as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds.
The suspect was also described as having a light complexion, a large build, short dark hair and a full beard. He was wearing a red hoodie with white lettering on the back, camouflage sweatpants and black sneakers.
Anyone with information about the man and/or the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips may also be submitted to the NYPD Crime Stoppers website or via Twitter.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.
