Mario’s new voice was recently unveiled in a new Nintendo Direct for the upcoming game “Super Mario Bros. Wonder.”
Key details:  The Nintendo Direct was shared on Tuesday and features 15 minutes’ worth of information about “Super Mario Bros. Wonder,” from introductions to new characters to details about the Petal Isles and the six distinct worlds of the Flower Kingdom.
A new voice actor: Last week, voice actor Charles Martinet announced that he will no longer be voicing Mario. Martinet notably lent his voice to Nintendo for 27 years.
“Super Mario Bros. Wonder,” which will be released on Oct. 20, will feature a new Mario voice actor. Nintendo confirmed to GameSpot in August that Martinet was not involved in the new project.
Well-received teaser: Mario’s new voice in the upcoming game has been well-received by fans so far over on X, with comments ranging from it “sounds great” to “actually sounds the same.”

Making a comparison: YouTube channel GameXplain uploaded a video following the latest Nintendo Direct to compare Martinet’s voice with that of the “Super Mario Bros. Wonder” Mario voice actor. Like on X, several YouTube users shared positive feedback.
Not gonna lie, whoever is voicing Mario now is doing an excellent job,” one user wrote, while another commented, “Mario is definitely doing an excellent job. They are an octave higher, but that is not a big issue in the slightest.”
The actor’s identity?: Several social media users have been wondering who the new voice behind Mario is.
Last week, a Reddit user wrote that the new Mario voice actor could be voice impressionist Brian Hull, while another user suggested that it could be “someone no one has ever heard of.”
Following the Nintendo Direct, one X user suggested that the new voice actor could possibly be artificial intelligence. Another user mentioned Chris Pratt, who voiced Mario in the box office hit “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
