K-pop boy band Stray Kids’ latest EP release “Oddinary” has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.
The seven-track EP garnered the biggest sales week for an album in 2022 with 110,000 sales in the U.S. during its first week of release from March 18 to 24.
The majority of the EP’s sales came from CDs, which came in seven different collectible versions that came with posters, stickers and trading cards.

“Throughout the week, we were trying to see what their reactions are, what they think about the album,” group leader Bang Chan said in a Twitter Spaces chat with Billboard. “Seeing how much they give interest to music and the album itself, it’s the reason we could get this far. I don’t know if we deserve it, but it’s a really big gift that Stays [the group’s fans] gave us. It makes us want to try harder. It’s a really good start for 2022, so a really big thank you to Stays.”
Stray Kids members are now the third K-Pop artists to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Album Chart after BTS and SuperM. “Oddinary” is also the 13th mostly non-English-language album to top the Billboard chart.
“Like our album says, being odd is ordinary,” Bang Chan added as a message to Stays. “If you have anything you think is odd about yourself, we don’t think there’s any reason to hide it or be anxious or nervous about it. It’s still a part of you. You being an individual, human being on Earth is special. Stay Oddinary!”
Stray Kids, which consists of eight members, was formed on a South Korean reality TV show of the same name in 2017. They will be promoting their EP and title track “Maniac” on March 30 with a comeback stage performance on MBC M’s “Show Champion.”
