Star Wars fan Andre Price quit his job in advertising to surf the world’s beaches as a Stormtrooper.
In 2011, Price, along with his girlfriend Rebecca Noeh, packed his surfboard and his Stormtrooper helmet in the hopes of getting some cool photos while on vacation.
However, when his blog and photographs documenting the original 12-month trip became an internet sensation — his blog has attracted 30,000 followers — Price decided to make a book of his photographs for charity.
A native from Hamburg, Germany, Andre Price dreamt of chasing waves in an endless summer around the globe. Andre, 42, first heard of Star Wars in the 1970s when he was only 5 years old, and it’s been a big part of his life ever since.
Price’s photos usually take two hours to perfect each time. The process involves setting up the camera for his girlfriend and editing the images afterwards.
Price, an avid surfer of 18 years, says it is quite difficult and uncomfortable surfing with a Stormtrooper helmet that is not made for water.
However, pain is beauty when it comes to getting that perfect photo opportunity: “It was a rather uncomfortable experience. Surfing in it was painful at times, but show had to go on. I thought it would be boring just to have those average snapshots like everyone else.”
Though Price is now back in Germany, he has already made plans for his next big adventure with friends in Sri Lanka, Europe and Africa. Price and Noeh have traveled to 10 countries in Asia, Europe and South America.
