‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Gets Second Season, But No Michelle Yeoh

CBS All Access recently announced that “Star Trek: Discovery” has been renewed for a second season to the delight of diehard trekkies everywhere.

“This series has a remarkable creative team and cast who have demonstrated their ability to carry on the ‘Star Trek’ legacy,” said Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer of CBS Interactive. “We are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished and are thrilled to be bringing fans a second season of this tremendous series.”

In light of the news, the show released promotional imagery of the cast to spotlight the next season — with one noticeable omission from the first season: Michelle Yeoh.

Netizens took to Twitter to show how much they missed USS Shenzhou’s Captain Philippa Georgiou (and wanted her back for the second season):

IMDB has yet to update the Star Trek page on the show’s second season, but it is telling that Yeoh is only listed in three episodes; by contrast, Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham) has appeared in all fifteen episodes in the first season.

It remains to be seen if Yeoh, who recently completed filming “Crazy Rich Asians“, will be featured in future episodes of “Star Trek: Discovery”.
