Gretchen J. Berg, one of the producers of “Star Trek: Discovery,” officially confirmed that Michelle Yeoh — who plays Captain Georgiou — will return in some form sometime in the near future.
While speaking at New York Comic Con (NYCC) on Saturday, Berg teased fans that they haven’t seen the last of Captain Georgiou yet.
You will see more of this woman on the show,” she told the audience at the convention, TV Guide reported.
Many “Star Trek” fans were absolutely furious when “Discovery” aired its two-episode special late last month. It is all due to the fact that (SPOILERS ALERT!) Yeoh’s character only lives for a couple of episodes. Captain Georgiou is killed in episode two, “Battle at the Binary Stars”, at the hands of a Klingon named T’Kuvma during a hand-to-hand combat.
The 55-year-old actress made a surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con on Saturday where she asked “Star Trek: Discovery” panelists some questions while posing as a fan in a mask. Yeoh soon joined the rest of the cast in the panel after she revealed her true identity.
After joining the cast on stage, Yeoh warned Jason Isaacs’ Captain Lorca to keep an eye out for her “baby girl.”
I’m telling you Captain Gabriel Lorca – if you don’t look after my baby girl I’m going to kick your ass,” she said.
The “Star Trek: Discovery” panel at NYCC also shared some clips of what fans can look forward to in the series, one of which shows Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) getting haunted by the death of Captain Georgiou.
Star Trek: Discovery” takes place a decade before the events of the original series. It features a solid and diverse cast that either gets praised or slammed by the fans.
