A single father in Thailand has tugged on several netizens’ heartstrings after dressing up as a woman for a Mother’s Day event at his daughter’s school.
What happened: On Aug. 12, which is when Thailand celebrates Mother’s Day, Joe Lookphonbodee, 48, attended Ban Noen Kroi School’s special event in Kamphaeng Phet province as the mother of his adopted daughter, Cream. He wore a long-haired black wig and checkered dress.
Lookphonbodee teaches physical education and health education at his daughter’s school, according to Mothership. His students lovingly call him Teacher Joe or Mr. Pratya.
“When the school organizes Mother’s Day activities, I don’t want my child to have an inferiority complex,” he told Bangkok Biz News, as per Mothership. “Personally, I’m not ashamed because I love my child.”
Going viral: On Saturday, Lookphonbodee posted a video on TikTok with footage of him and Cream taken during the event.
In the video, which has already garnered over 378,000 views and 35,000 likes, Cream can be seen smiling, hugging her father and paying her respects to him.
“This year’s Mother’s Day, I want to say I love my father,” Cream said, as per Mothership. “Thank you father for raising me and making me happy. This life doesn’t feel like it lacks anything.”
