The Royal Albatross Singapore has launched a new luxurious cruise for cat owners, where their feline friends can enjoy a three-course dinner onboard along with stunning views of Singapore’s skyline.
About the cruise: The cruise, which has successfully hosted over 2,000 dogs since 2021, is now inviting kitties to lounge in custom-built “cat-bana” kennels on deck for two-and-a-half hours along the resort island of Sentosa before ending with a short fireworks display. While the cats get to enjoy a three-course dinner, their owners will also be pampered with a four- or seven-course dinner beside them.
The ship can hold up to 15 cats and 130 human passengers. According to a press release, more than 200 tickets for human passengers — priced at 225 Singaporean dollars (approximately $166) each — have already been sold.
“This is a good time to spend the day as a family, since we just got Mahmud,” said Aziana Aziz, a teacher sailing with her family. “He’s enjoying it… he’s curious, he’s looking around, so yeah, happy cat, I guess.”
Precautions: The company operating the cruises, Tall Ship Adventures, said they consulted with cat welfare organizations, such as the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, to ensure that their passengers have a safe experience on board.
The cats are required to be vaccinated and sterilized. They must also be transported in carriers while boarding and securely harnessed and leashed at all times.
