Simu Liu will be on both sides of the camera in an Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Ben Mezrich’s novel “Seven Wonders,” where he is slated to both star and executive produce for the first time.
“Seven Wonders” pairs botanist-adventurer Dr. Nate Grady and international fixer Sloane Seydoux on a globe-trotting adventure to solve a mystery linking together the Seven Wonders of the World.
Some of Mezrich’s other novels that have gotten the on-screen treatment include “The Accidental Billionaires,” a drama centering on the tumultuous founding of Facebook that was adapted into the critically acclaimed “The Social Network,” and “Bringing Down the House,” which was adapted into the films “21” and “The Last Casino.”
Joining Simu Liu behind the camera is “Fast & Furious” director Justin Lin, who is set to direct, and “The Legend of Tarzan” screenwriter Adam Cozad, who is set to pen the project.
Liu celebrated his newest roles with an Instagram post, where he hailed his team of filmmakers as “one of the most formidable creative teams ever assembled.”
After bursting into the mainstream as the titular character of the 2021 Marvel film “Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings,” Liu has had no shortage of work in showbiz. Some of his other upcoming projects include Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film, where he plays one of three Kens, and a “Shang-Chi” sequel. Most recently, his likeness has popped up in a fourth-wall breaking scene in the season finale of “She-Hulk,” which he jokingly referred to as his “triumphant return to the MCU.”
