While not many details about the film have been officially released, Liu will be working alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, who will be playing the roles of Barbie and Ken.
According to Variety, Gerwig wrote the “Barbie” script with her long-time collaborator Noah Baumbach, and filming is expected to begin in early 2022 at the Warner Bros. Leavesden studio located in London.
Many fans were left wondering about the specifics of Liu’s role, with some expressing their disappointment in Liu not being cast as the first Asian Ken, reported We Got This Covered. One fan commented, “But… Why not Ken :(“
Despite their disappointment, many other fans voiced their excitement for the 32-year-old actor, with one declaring, “This only makes you cooler,” while another commented, “I’ll watch anything with you in it.”
Liu is best known for his roles as Shang-Chi in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and Jung Kim in “Kim’s Convenience.”
