Hello, everyone!

A surge in burglaries and robberies have hit the AAPI community in Pennsylvania.

Police estimate that at least $1 million worth of cash and personal belongings have been looted all across the state this year alone from Asian American homes.

Philadelphia City Council member David Oh said Asian stereotypes are partly to blame. “When it comes to a stereotype type that someone is vulnerable and susceptible, that typically leads to crime.”

Corporal Brent Miller of the Pennsylvania State Police added that thieves will do everything from disguising themselves as landscapers to following potential victims home from work. The thieves typically work in teams with one entering the home, one on lookout and one as the getaway driver. The entire burglary can happen in 30 minutes or less.

Do you think artists should boycott the World Cup over human rights abuses?

I think while artists can make whatever decision they want for themselves, they should strongly consider boycotting events that go against human rights or their own fundamental values. I don’t know how much background research entertainers do about the countries they are performing in.

Sincerely,

Daniel Anderson
