The Auburn University sophomore shared in a tweet on Monday that she has been dealing with a kidney problem. Lee expressed her gratitude towards the medical staff treating and managing her diagnosis and mentioned that her main focus now is her health and recovery. She is a prominent member of the U.S. women's gymnastics team and won the gold medal during the individual competition at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Despite her health issues, Lee has not ruled out competing in the Paris Olympics in 2024.

San Francisco's Chinatown has suffered damage to its iconic red paper lanterns from recent storms, with an entire block having to be removed due to their poor condition. The Chinatown Merchants Association is asking for community donations to replace the delicate lanterns and has partnered with the nonprofit BeChinatown for a GoFundMe campaign. The lanterns also function as a source of security for those who live and work in the area and are a significant attraction for visitors.
