Hello, Everyone!

A
new analysis from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW) warns that a ban on race-conscious admissions practices in selective colleges would threaten the racial and ethnic diversity of their student bodies.

The analysis found that class-conscious admissions practices can only "partially claw back the levels of diversity" if affirmative action is banned. Furthermore, White, Asian and Asian American students are "much more likely" to come from upper and upper-middle-class families than African American and Hispanic students. It also found that class-conscious admissions would decrease the number of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students, as well as American Indian or Alaska Native students.

Race in America 🌎
  • Local artist Angie Eng organized a silent social justice walk in Sacramento, California, on Saturday to raise awareness about anti-Asian hate. Nearly 200 people, from community members to representatives from 40 local AAPI organizations such as the Adult Buddhist Association, Asian American Liberation Network and the Chinese American Council of Sacramento, attended the “Right On!” social justice art walk, a civil rights project inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. Participants wore black shirts with dates highlighting significant Supreme Court case rulings that targeted community members based on their class, race, ethnicity, gender or abilities. QR codes taped on the back of participants’ shirts would bring scanners to a website describing each court decision.

No. I think Levi’s should just hire actual human beings and give work to a diverse background of people who could benefit from the opportunity.
