A picturesque Japanese beach is making its bid to become the country’s top tourist getaway for those who wish to experience what it’s like to be in a real-life anime.
Situated in an area usually overlooked in Japan, the Chichibugahama Beach has a scenery that appears to be lifted from the anime movie “Your Name.”
Already a popular swimming destination during the summer, the 1-kilometer (0.6-mile) long beach is considered the most captivating area in the coastal city of Mitoyo in Kagawa Prefecture.
According to SoraNews24, its awe-inspiring sunset views alone make it a worthwhile travel spot even in the off-season.
Sunsets in Chichibugahama are made even more breathtaking when the tides are low and the shallow waters turn into an ocean of mirrors reflecting the sky.
While taking the “mirror photos” is indeed among the highlights of the beach, there are still amazing photos to be had during high tide due to its clean sand and pristine waters.
For the more adventurous tourists seeking something different from the usual “Tokyo to Kyoto” itinerary, Chichibugahama is an ideal alternative.
The scenic paradise can be reached via Takamatsu airport in Takamatsu, Kagawa, Japan. From the prefectural capital, JR Takamatsu train station will take visitors to Takuma in about 40 minutes. Buses at the Takuma Station can then take tourists to the Chichibugahama bus stop.
