Sandara Park says she ‘regrets’ leaving Philippines to chase K-pop stardom in S. Korea

K-pop sensation Sandara Park has opened up about her regrets regarding leaving her thriving career in the Philippines to chase her dream in South Korea.
The 38-year-old star, who became part of the now-defunct girl group 2NE1, recently revealed her feelings in a tell-all interview with Filipino TV host Luis Manzano. She confessed that while she initially had no regrets about leaving her Philippine showbiz career behind to pursue her dream of becoming a star in Korea, she now feels differently.
How she got her start: Park’s journey as an artist in the Philippines began with her participation in the local talent search reality show “Star Circle Quest” in 2004, where she quickly gained popularity.
In the interview, Park recalls facing challenges and being criticized during the competition, even confessing that she sometimes wanted to return home. Despite these difficulties, her unique personality and genuine approach endeared her to the Filipino audience during her time on the talent show.
Her return to South Korea: After finding fame in the Philippines, Sandara Park returned to South Korea, where she started from scratch as a trainee. Her journey to becoming a K-pop sensation was marked by perseverance and hard work. Park’s career includes her successful stint as a member of 2NE1, which earned global fame.
What’s next for Park: Since 2NE1’s disbandment in 2016, Park shares that all the members have remained on good terms and have been doing really well in their respective careers.
Park also acknowledged having had a boyfriend but prefers to keep such matters confidential. Looking ahead, Park expressed her ambition to embark on a solo world tour, connecting with her fans across the globe. The recent release of her first solo extended play (EP), titled “Sandara Park” is a pivotal step in that direction.
