Days after his BBC video went viral, Professor Robert E. Kelly finally shared what went on inside his head when his kids adorably crashed the interview.
The associate professor at Busan National University spoke to the Wall Street Journal along with his family. Gone was his suit and tie and books on the bed.
Kelly, who easily appeared uncomfortable in the viral clip, actually felt “a mixture of surprise, embarrassment and amusement and love and affection.” He ultimately found the whole thing “terribly cute.”
Kelly simply forgot to lock the door. His wife Kim Jung-A, whom some ignorant people called the children’s nanny, said, “Yeah, most of the time he locks the door. I couldn’t find them [children] around me and I tried to check the door. It was some chaos for me.”
She was watching her husband on a television in another room.
It all started with four-year-old Marion waltzing into Kelly’s room as he talked about South Korean politics. Apparently, it was her birthday.
“She was in a hippity-hoppity mood that day because of the school party,” Kelly explained.
It didn’t take long before eight-month-old James came crashing in with his walker. At this point, Kelly was in quicksand, “I knew it was over.”
Wishing that the fuss would end soon, the couple turned their Facebook and Twitter notifications off. “I’m not even going near YouTube or Reddit or whatever these other sites are,” Kelly said.
But of course, there’s a light-heartedness to it all as most comments Kelly received were positive. After all, it’s not everyday when we get to see adorable kids breaking into live and formal interviews.
