A young Bangladeshi model recently committed suicide by hanging herself during a video call with her husband.
Risila Binte Wazer let her husband Imrul Hasan watch as she took her own life inside her apartment, according to Dhaka Tribune.
The body of the 22-year-old mother was retrieved by her immediate relatives from her home in Bangladesh’s capital of Dhaka at around 2 p.m. on Monday. Gulshan Police Station commanding officer Abu Bakar Siddiki said Binte was found hanging in her room.
Binte, who was born and raised in Chittagong, was rushed to the United Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. According to the police, the woman’s body is due for an autopsy at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the case is still under investigation.
Although it was not immediately known what caused the woman to decide to take her own life, local authorities believe that she and her husband were having some marital problems. It was not reported where the husband was when his wife was brought to the hospital.
A ramp fashion model since 2012, Binte was a busy mom who cared for her young daughter while pursuing her undergraduate degree in English literature at Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology.
According to the investigators, the couple’s three-year-old daughter was staying at her grandparents’ house, the India Times reported.
