Singer-songwriter Raveena Aurora revealed that she was recently sexually assaulted while on tour.

In a Twitter post, the R&B artist wrote that the incident occurred “a few days ago” and that it was one of “the most devastating and heartbreaking times I’ve had in a really long time.”

Aurora is currently on tour and will be making stops at some of the biggest festivals around the world, including Primavera Sound in Argentina and Chile and the inaugural edition of Lollapalooza India.

Despite the traumatic experience, Aurora wrote in a follow-up tweet that she doesn’t want to “give that person the power to f*ck with this beautiful moment in my career” and expressed her excitement to complete her tour.

Born to a pair of Punjabi immigrants in the United States, Aurora rose to prominence with a series of independently produced and released projects that blended elements of R&B, jazz, soul and folk with her unique experiences as a queer South Asian woman.

Aurora’s latest release is her sophomore album “Asha’s Awakening,” a desi-futurist concept album that explores and reconciles her sexuality and spirituality.

“[The album] is almost like a thesis,” Aurora told Dazed. “It’s everything I wanted to study in terms of the intersections of the east and west, and all the different points that they meet musically.”

While she is excited to “finish off the rest of her tour strong,” Aurora asked that fans “respect my personal space as much as possible for the rest of [the] tour while I find my sense of normalcy.”

We hope you consider making a contribution so we can continue to provide you with quality content that informs, educates and inspires the Asian community. Even a $1 contribution goes a long way.  Thank you for everyone's support. We love you all and can't appreciate you guys enough.
