Priscilla Ku Kei-kwan, a former Hong Kong actor and TV host, ignited criticism online after sharing pictures online of her two Christmas trees decorated with
On Dec. 4, Ku posted pictures of the trees on Instagram.
“The theme for this year’s Christmas tree is ‘orange box,’” the 60-year-old actor wrote in her post’s caption.
Ku’s photos show the two trees with piles of Hermès boxes, which are all in the brand’s trademarked shade of orange, sitting under them. One of the trees has mini handbags, ornaments and containers hanging from it.
The total cost of Ku’s Christmas decorations is unknown, but popular models of specific Hermès bags, such as its renowned Birking bag, can cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even the brand’s smallest accessories and decorative items can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars.
To say the least, Ku is a fan of the Hermès brand. In August, she reportedly purchased a Himalaya Kelly 25 bag, considered one of the world’s rarest bags — one such bag sold at auction in Paris in late November for almost $539,000 — and posted a picture of herself posing with it on her Instagram page.
Earlier in January, Ku also posted a video of herself unboxing an “unusual even to Hermes fans” Birkin Cargo bag.
Netizens were quick to comment on the former actor and TV host’s Christmas post.
“Hope the boxes will be put for use to avoid wastage then it is more meaningful,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Learn to keep a low profile,” another user wrote, while another user said, “Bad taste.”
Other Instagram users were more positive, writing comments such as “Amazingly beautiful!” and “If she has money, go ahead and splurge… life is short!”
