Pokémon Squishmallows are here, and we gotta squish ‘em all.
A collaboration between Squishmallows and The Pokémon Company made its debut at San Diego Comic Con 2022. Squishmallows teased fans about the release on Twitter early in the day on Wednesday before first-look images were shared online.
Pokémon’s global brand manager at Jazwares, Aaron Margolin, posted images taken at the convention on Twitter, giving a nod to the designer of the Pikachu and Gengar Squishmallows, Joanne Shin.
Jazwares, the toy company behind Squishmallows, officially announced the collaboration in a press release on Thursday.
“Joining forces with Pokémon to bring fans this monumental new offering takes the Squishmallows brand to a completely new level of pop-culture coolness,” said Gerhard Runken, senior vice president of Brand & Marketing at Jazwares.
Officially launched in 2017, Squishmallows have become a hit among Gen Z, with Squishmallow content constituting more than 8 billion videos on the popular social media platform TikTok. There are over 1,500 unique Squishmallows fans can collect, with sizes ranging from 2 to 24 inches across various lines.
The latest Pokémon line will launch on PokemonCenter.com sometime in the fall, though neither company has released information on the pricing. Depending on size, prices for Squishmallows can range between $3 for the smallest options to up to $60 for larger options.
