K-pop boy band BTS made history at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night after becoming the first K-pop group to win a prestigious U.S. Billboard music award.
The group, known as Bangtan Sonyeondan in Korean, or “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”, took home the fan-voted “Top Social Artist”, beating Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes in the category.
BTS, composed of Jin (Kim Seok-jin), Suga (Min Yoon-gi), J-Hope (Jung Ho-seok), Rap Monster (Kim Nam-joon), Jimin (Park Ji-min), V (Kim Tae-hyung), and Jungkook (Jeon Jeong-guk), is a best-selling, multi-awarded group from South Korea which has made several international tours in the recent years.
Their presence at the awards show captured the attention of Western fans and media, including celebrity blogger Perez Hilton who went into total fanboy mode over the group and later took to Twitter to post some tweets about them.
However, according to AllKpop, many BTS fans (AKA the A.R.M.Y.)  took offense on some of the blogger’s tweets about the group.
After commenting on how “cute” the members of the group are, he went on to ask whether any of the members were gay.
