Kim will take on the role of Anna, an artificial intelligence researcher who is among those trapped in their apartment building after a tsunami nearly wipes out the planet. Park’s character, Hee-jo, is a member of a security team who’s determined to come to her rescue.
The sci-fi movie will be produced by The Light of Fantasy, a studio founded by Jeon Ryeo-kyung. Jeon previously worked with director Kim Byung-woo on his critically acclaimed 2013 film “The Terror Live.”
“Great Flood” is just one of Park’s several Netflix projects following the success of the 2021 global sensation “Squid Game,” in which he played one of the lead characters, Sang-woo. In April, he starred in the spy film “Yaksha: Ruthless Operations.” More recently, he played Berlin in the platform’s hit Korean remake, “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area.”
Kim previously starred in hit rom-com series such as “Our Beloved Summer” (2021) and “Itaewon class” (2020).
Netflix has not revealed a release date for “Great Flood.”
