A man accused of breaking into a home in Orange County, California, was shot dead by deputies on Wednesday morning, according to reports.
What happened: The man allegedly burglarized and vandalized the residence in the 14000 block of Van Buren Street in Midway City at around 5 a.m. After receiving a report, police arrived at the scene and found him on a sidewalk holding a hatchet.
Why shots were fired: Surveillance video shows the man advancing toward the deputies with his hatchet. Two officers reportedly fired their guns and shot the suspect, who died at the scene after life-saving measures.
About the suspect: The alleged burglar, who has not been identified, was described to be an Asian man with no prior connection to the homeowners. Aside from his hatchet, no other object was reported as being recovered from the scene.
