New ‘One Piece Film: Red’ teaser trailer drops a massive Shanks secret

  • Toei Animation released its second teaser trailer for “One Piece Film: Red” on Wednesday.

  • The trailer finally introduced fans to Uta, Red-Haired Shanks’ daughter and the “most beloved singer in the world.”

  • Directed by Gorō Taniguchi, “One Piece Film: Red” is set to premiere on Aug. 6, 2022.

Toei Animation released its second teaser trailer for “One Piece Film: Red,” revealing details about the film’s main female character and a massive secret about Shank’s life.

The new teaser trailer, which was released on Wednesday, finally introduced fans to Uta (“song” in Japanese), who Toei Animation describes as the “most beloved singer in the world.” The first teaser trailer, which was released on Nov. 21, 2021, hinted at Uta’s importance to the upcoming film’s storyline.

The synopsis for the latest teaser trailer sets up that it’s Uta’s first live concert appearance, and various fans, from the Straw Hats to the Navy, have shown up to “enjoy her sonorous performance.” Marine Captain Koby and Helmeppo can also be seen in the short clip.

Aside from the Uta reveal, the teaser trailer also dropped a massive secret about Shanks – it turns out that the “most beloved singer in the world” is actually his daughter.

It is still unclear whether Uta will be a protagonist or antagonist since the teaser trailer only brings about more questions regarding the film’s mysterious plot, such as what Monkey D. Luffy means when he tells Uta, “If he knows his daughter is doing this, Shanks won’t keep quiet.”

All secrets aside, the upcoming film will introduce new designs for the Straw Hat Pirates. Additionally, Eiichiro Oda, who created the original “One Piece” manga, is credited as the film’s general producer and supervisor.

Directed by Gorō Taniguchi, “One Piece Film: Red” is set to premiere on Aug. 6, 2022.
