A 68-year-old Filipino American woman was attacked and robbed in broad daylight in Oakland, California while buying mangoes last week.
Antoinette Solis was shopping in Oakland’s Chinatown along 8th Street on Friday when an unidentified man took her purse that contained around $300 and a jade bracelet, according to NBC Bay Area.
“I’m buying mango and all of a sudden somebody grabbed my body and dropped me here,” Solis said, referring to the place where her attacker pushed her to the ground. “I didn’t see it. He grabbed me in the back. Grabbed me, trying to get my purse, and he took it.”
A woman with a patrol team consisting of volunteers saw the incident and managed to memorize the suspect’s license plate.
Meanwhile, a 68-year-old man was attacked earlier that week in Oakland. Hua Zhen Lin was riding an AC Transit bus on April 26 when another passenger hit him in the head with a cane.
