The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is searching for a man who chased, beat and dragged an Asian elderly woman in an attempted robbery in broad daylight.
The incident: The assault took place on Sept. 28 at 4:40 p.m. as the 65-year-old victim was walking by the intersection of Saint Edwards Street and Willoughby Street in Fort Green, Brooklyn, according to PIX 11.
- Surveillance footage captured the unidentified assailant dropping his bicycle to chase after the woman as she runs into the middle of the streets. While attempting to take her purse, he repeatedly punches her in the face and drags her to the ground.
- Bystanders were present.
- Police stated that he rode away on his bicycle empty-handed and that the victim’s purse contained money from collecting cans.
- The woman was transported to Brooklyn Hospital where she was treated for back pain, face swelling and abrasions and cuts on her body, according to CBS New York.
- The NYPD has asked the public for help in finding the attacker, and no arrests have been made as of this writing.
