Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang orders employees to automate all tasks with AI

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang instructed employees during a companywide meeting in Santa Clara on Nov. 20 that they should automate every task possible with artificial intelligence. His directive followed Nvidia’s report of record quarterly earnings and underscored the company’s intent to make AI a routine part of internal operations.

Huang addressed reports that some managers had discouraged extensive use of AI tools and expressed sharp disagreement with that approach. “My understanding is Nvidia has some managers who are telling their people to use less AI. Are you insane?” he said, according to a leaked recording published by Business Insider. He then issued a clear mandate: “I want every task that is possible to be automated with artificial intelligence to be automated with artificial intelligence.” Concerns about how far companies will push internal automation have grown in recent weeks, highlighted by Geoffrey Hinton’s public warning that general purpose AI could eliminate entire categories of work.

Responding to employee fears about potential layoffs, Huang added, “I promise you, you will have work to do.” Nvidia expanded from about 29,600 workers at the end of last fiscal year to roughly 36,000, and Huang said the company still remains “about 10,000 short.” The debate around corporate automation has intensified as tech leaders continue to comment on the future of management roles, including recent remarks from Google CEO Sundar Pichai suggesting that even top executive functions could eventually be handled by AI.

Huang pointed to the company’s engineering teams as an example of how AI should be embedded across departments. He highlighted the growing use of the coding assistant Cursor within Nvidia’s software groups and urged employees to rely on AI tools consistently. He told teams to “use it until it does” and said that improving the tools internally is part of the company’s responsibility. The approach reflects Nvidia’s broader investment strategy, which positions AI not only as a product but as a core operating principle.
