JYP Entertainment girl group Nmixx dropped a cover Sunday of “Kiss,” a 2009 song from the former K-pop girl group Rainbow.
The Warner Music Korea music video sees the septet at a summer party as they sing their rendition of Rainbow’s song off their 2009 debut album “Gossip Girl.”
Nmixx’s cover is part of a YouTube series called “Re:born Project” which gathers different Korean artists’ renditions of popular songs, such as Fromis_9’s take on “Sea of Moonlight” by girl group Fiestar and soloist IU.
Nmixx is composed of members Haewon, Lily, Sullyoon, Jinni, BAE, Jiwoo and Kyujin. They debuted in February with the single album “Ad Mare,” which includes the title track “O.O” and the side track “Tank.” The album set a record at the time for the highest debut album sales for a K-pop girl group by selling 227,399 in one week, an achievement just recently surpassed by Hybe’s new group, NewJeans.
Last week, Sullyoon dropped a cover of Blackpink’s 2016 soft song, “Stay.”
Many people might not know this, but despite our large and loyal following which we are immensely grateful for, NextShark is still a small bootstrapped startup that runs on no outside funding or loans.
Everything you see today is built on the backs of warriors who have sacrificed opportunities to help give Asians all over the world a bigger voice.
However, we still face many trials and tribulations in our industry, from figuring out the most sustainable business model for independent media companies to facing the current COVID-19 pandemic decimating advertising revenues across the board.
We hope you consider making a contribution so we can continue to provide you with quality content that informs, educates and inspires the Asian community. Even a $1 contribution goes a long way. Thank you for everyone's support. We love you all and can't appreciate you guys enough.
