Filipino American actor Nico Santos has been confirmed to be part of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” the latest installment in the popular superhero franchise from Marvel Studios.
Santos is best known for his memorable roles in “Crazy Rich Asians” as Oliver T’sien and in the NBC comedy series “Superstore” as Mateo Liwanag. He also recently starred in the animated film “Wish Dragon” and the HBO Max animated series, “The Prince.”
“PUNCH ME! I mean pinch me!” Santos wrote in an Instagram post. “We wrapped a month ago but I’ve thought about my time on set every day since. THANK YOU @jamesgunn for your genius, kindness and for fostering and creating such an incredibly FUN world to work and play in.”
“I believe it was early nineties r&b songstress Gabrielle who said 🎶Dreams can come true…🎶 Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go frolic in a meadow to celebrate all the joy I’m feeling…,” he added.
The film, written and directed by James Gunn, will be the 32nd feature in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and purportedly the last in the filmmaker’s series of “Guardians” films.
Santos, whose role in the highly anticipated threequel has yet to be revealed, will be joining an ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Will Poulter.
Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova from “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and Daniela Melchior from “The Suicide Squad” have also recently been revealed to be among the cast.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is set for theatrical release on May 5, 2023.
