New Zealand Man Admits to Ramming Chinese Family’s Car Off the Road Because They Were Asian

A 21-year-old New Zealand man has admitted to ramming a Chinese-New Zealand family’s car off the road in an apparent “racially motivated” road rage attack.
Fraser Milne, whose vicious attack sent two children flying through the air, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and four charges of injuring with reckless disregard for safety, NZ Herald reports.
Milne was convicted in the High Court at Auckland before Justice Sally Fitzgerald and will be sentenced in July. He was remanded on bail until his sentencing and was given a “first strike” warning.
Court documents detailed the harrowing incident that Crown prosecutor Jasper Rhodes described as a “very serious racial motivated attack on a family,” noting that “everyone is incredibly lucky that nobody came out of this dead.”
The family, which included two children aged 12 and 10, were driving around the Awhitu Peninsula near Auckland in March last year when they encountered Milne. A family friend was also in the car with them that day. Milne, who was then driving over a hill, passed the family’s car and was forced to swerve to avoid a collision.
Milne apparently believed the family crossed over to his side of the road so he was forced to drive into a drain and hit a fence. An enraged Milne then turned his car around and ran after the family. After passing them at speed, he did a u-turn to cut them off.
Milne, who was then shouting and swearing, confronted the family and demanded they pay for the damage to his car. He then threatened the family that he belonged to a gang and was going to kill them. When the family failed to contact the police due to poor phone reception, they decided to return to their car and make their escape.
As they were fleeing, they noticed Milne in the rearview mirror, quickly catching up on them. Out of fear of Milne’s erratic driving, the family was forced to stop their car.
Milne then brought his blue-nosed pit bull dog as he approached the car and told the terrified family that his dog would eat them. As Milne continued threatening the family while hitting the car, the family locked themselves inside.
When the family was able to flee the rampaging man once more, Milne drove to some nearby shops and vented his furor toward several locals. He reportedly went on a racist tirade, claiming Asians were “taking over the country” and “f**king Asians” had caused damage to his car. Milne also mocked the shape of the family’s eyes and bragged that they escaped because he would get “the pieces of sh*t” deported.
Milne then spotted the family driving past the shops, so he quickly returned to his car and chased them. In his rush to catch the family, Milne almost hit another car as he drove.
Reaching speeds of 86 miles per hour, Milne eventually caught up with the family after chasing them for about 4.3 miles. He pulled up alongside them on the wrong side of the road, demanding that the family pull their car over. When the family refused to stop, Milne deliberately rammed their car. The impact caused the family’s car to spin out of control, crash into a bank, flip in the air and land upside down on top of Milne’s car. Milne suddenly pressed on his breaks, causing the family’s car to slide off.
The two children, who had taken off their seatbelts thinking they might need to make a hurried exit from the car, were violently thrown from the car during the crash. They both landed on the road and narrowly avoided falling into a steep ravine.
As the two children lay injured on the ground, Milne proceeded to continue his racist attack on the family.
“Get out of the f**king car, I’m going to smash you! You f**king Asian c***! F**king Asians!” Milne screamed.
Locals arrived shortly after to help the family and rushed them to a hospital. One of the children was transported to Starship Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter sustaining an undisplaced fracture to his skull, a laceration to his scalp and a small subdural hematoma.
The three family members in the car sustained only grazes and bruises, while the family friend suffered a spine fracture. Milne, who called for his dog when the locals arrived, never offered any assistance to the family.
Upon questioning by the authorities, Milne claimed he could tell members of the family weren’t citizens, that they were on an “illegal visa,” and “Asian mafia” who had spent “two days in the country.”
Milne also said that when he saw the family drive past him at the shops, he was “at boiling point,” that he wanted to hurt “any Asian in general.”
With “so many emotions rolling through [his brain],” Milne rammed the family’s car, thinking, “someone’s gonna come out of it dead” and “this is it … if they wanna kill me, let them kill me.”
He admitted that during the attack, he “felt like killing” the father of the family and wanted to “grab his neck and strangle him.”
