An Asian woman suffered burns on her body after an unidentified assailant doused her with an unknown substance in a horrifying attack outside her home in Brooklyn, New York.
The incident occurred on Sunday at around 11 p.m. when the woman was taking out her garbage in front of a residential building within the vicinity of 64th Street and 9th Avenue, according to the New York Police Department.
In the CCTV footage, the assailant can be seen waiting beside the house of the victim. After seeing her, the man immediately stands up, approaches the woman quietly and poured a liquid substance over her head.
The suspect then fled on foot westbound on 64th Street.
“There was no interaction between the individual and the victim prior to the assault,” the NYPD told NextShark.
The woman, whose identity was not revealed, suffered second-degree burns all over her upper body, face and hands. She was in stable condition on Monday at Maimonides Hospital, according to the New York Post.
“The individual is described as a male with a mask over his face, gloves, a black hooded sweater, light-colored sweatpants, and light-colored sneakers,” the NYPD said.
