New Pokemon Movie Dumps Brock and Misty and We’re Calling the Police

Hello, officer? I’d like to report a crime against humanity.
On July 15th, 2017, the 20th Pokemon Movie will be released in Japan. It will re-imagine Ash Ketchum’s original journey through Kanto, from receiving Pikachu from Professor Oak to battling the Elite Four and everything in between.
Oh wait, maybe not everything in between, because for A REALLY DUMB REASON, Brock and Misty have been unceremoniously replaced by two new characters. Characters who weren’t even in the original cartoon from two decades ago.
Souji Pokemon
Makoto Pokemon
Last time I checked my childhood, Souji and Makoto, said characters, didn’t exist. Misty, the short-tempered water maiden, and Brock, the expressionless sucker for romance, were the ones that accompanied Ash on his adventures. Together. Because that’s what friends do.
They don’t get booted for no good reason. That’s not what friendship is about.
Yeah, they both eventually moved on to bigger and better things, but they had the memories they’d made together of times they’d shared. They could always rely on those memories to keep their friendship secure, right?
GUESS NOT — THEY’VE LITERALLY BEEN STRAIGHT UP REPLACED, JUST RIPPING A HOLE IN MY CHILDHOOD, MAN.
Exhibit A: Remember the heartbreaking scene when Ash released Butterfree into the wild? Both Ash and Butterfree said their tearful goodbyes as Brock and Misty supported their friend through this tough yet tender moment.
Right? Right? We were all there, we saw it with the OG three. We teared up with Ash but pretended not to when our moms walked in and asked us what was wrong. We wanted to be there for Ash too, just like Brock and Misty were.
EXCEPT IN THE NEW MOVIE, THEY’RE JUST…GONE!
Another weird thing — Nurse Joy, Team Rocket, Professor Oak, etc., all appear in the movie, but Brock and Misty? Nope. Not-Brock and Not-Misty have taken their place.
Fans have expressed outrage.

According to PokeBeach, Brock, Misty, and tons of other old friends do eventually appear. “In the end credits we see brief shots of Ash’s old friends — Brock, Misty, Tracey, May, Max, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, Serena, Bonnie, and Clemont.”
So, they’re there, but they were still replaced in key moments from the anime. Because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
