“Hellbound” has officially been renewed for a second season, Netflix announced during their Tudum event on Saturday.
Yeon Sang Ho of “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” will return as director and writer for the South Korean Netflix original horror series.
Based on the popular webtoon “Hell,” the first season of “Hellbound” was set in a new world where humans face large beasts that hunt down people they believe to be sinners.
The series landed second behind “Squid Game” as one of the biggest K-dramas released on Netflix in 2021, scoring a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and taking home several awards, including a win for best horror series from the review aggregation site.
The show also garnered 43,480,000 viewing hours by subscribers around the world during its first week, according to What’s On Netflix.
